H Synchronous Belt 12″-272″, 12.7mm 0.75″/1″/1.5″/2″/3″ CR, ISO 5296 Industrial & Machinery Supplier

Product Overview

The H Synchronous Belt is an inch-pitch synchronous belt with a 0.500 inch (12.7 mm) trapezoidal tooth profile. Power is transmitted by the meshing of the belt teeth with the pulley grooves rather than by friction, so the drive has no slip and no speed fluctuation. This positive engagement is what makes the H profile a standard choice for heavy-duty industrial power transmission.

Because the tooth form is trapezoidal and the pitch is imperial, the H profile is fully interchangeable with standard H pulleys to ISO 5296, which are widely available from many suppliers. The deep, wide tooth gives the belt a large shear area, so the H profile transmits high torque in a compact drive without the excessive belt width that a lighter profile would need.

The belt requires no lubrication, has no slip and no pollution, and runs with little noise. Transmission efficiency reaches 98% or more and the speed ratio range extends to 1:10, making the belt suitable for multi-axis drives. The maximum linear speed is 30 m/s.

Materials & Construction

Every H Synchronous Belt is built with a proven three-layer composite structure using premium, industry-grade materials for stable dimensions and long service life.

Layer	Material	Function
Tensile Member (Core)	high-strength glass fiber cord	Carries the full tensile load with very low elongation, keeping the pitch length stable under load.
Body Compound	Chloroprene rubber (CR) blended with rubber additives	Bonds and protects the cord, transmits the load, and resists heat, cold, oil, water and chemicals.
Tooth Facing	Specially treated Nylon 66 high-elastic fabric	Protects the tooth surface from wear, lowers friction against the pulley groove, and keeps the tooth form accurate.

Model Designation

An H belt is designated by its pitch line length code, the letter H for the profile, and a belt width code. Taking 480H100 as the example: 480 is the pitch line length code (48.0 inches), H is the profile (12.7 mm pitch), and 100 is the belt width code (1.00 inch). The model number without width is therefore 480H. Pitch line length in millimetres equals the length in inches multiplied by 25.4.

All H timing belts are manufactured to the ISO 5296 standard for inch-pitch trapezoidal tooth profiles with a 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) pitch, a 2.29 mm tooth height and a 40 degree pressure angle, ensuring full dimensional interchangeability with equivalent-profile H timing belts from other mainstream international manufacturers.

Applications

Industrial Machinery: Machine tools, pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, conveyors, printing and packaging machinery, textile machinery, agricultural equipment.
Commercial & Process Equipment: Mixers, agitators, food processing lines, laundry and dry-cleaning machinery, vending machines.
Heavy-Duty & Replacement Drives: Direct replacement on existing H pulley installations, restoring original speed ratio without pulley changes.
H synchronous belts drive industrial equipment such as machine tools, pumps, compressors, fans and conveyors.

Installation & Maintenance

Inspect on receipt: Surface clean, belt not twisted, teeth full and well-formed.
Never bend or crimp: Bending damages the glass fiber tensile member.
Avoid chemicals: Do not let belt contact strong oxidizing acids, prolonged oil or water.
Reduce tension before removal: Never pry off under high tension.
Check pulley alignment: Pulleys must be parallel and coplanar.
Tension correctly: Just enough to prevent tooth jumping under max load. Over-tensioning shortens bearing life.
Keep drive clean: Remove oil, dust and debris. Replace at first sign of damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an H timing belt?

The H timing belt is an inch-pitch trapezoidal-tooth synchronous belt with a 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) pitch, a 2.29 mm tooth height and a 4.3 mm thickness. It is designed for heavy-duty industrial power transmission where a positive, non-slip drive and accurate speed ratios are required.

What is the difference between H and XH timing belts?

Both are inch-pitch trapezoidal belts. H has a 0.500 inch (12.7 mm) pitch, while XH has a 0.875 inch (22.225 mm) pitch. XH is the larger, heavier-duty profile: it transmits more torque but needs larger pulleys, so H and XH belts are not interchangeable.

How do I read an H belt model number such as 480H100?

The designation is pitch length code – profile – width code. So 480H100 means a 48.0 inch (1219.2 mm) pitch line length, an H profile with a 12.7 mm pitch, and a 1.00 inch (25.4 mm) belt width. To find the number of teeth, divide the pitch length by the pitch: 48.0 / 0.5 = 96 teeth.

What widths and lengths are available?

We stock 230 standard H models from 120H to 2720H in five width codes: 075 (0.75 inch / 19.1 mm), 100 (1.00 inch / 25.4 mm), 150 (1.50 inch / 38.1 mm), 200 (2.00 inch / 50.8 mm) and 300 (3.00 inch / 76.2 mm). Custom widths and lengths can be manufactured on request.

What materials and construction do H belts use?

Every H belt uses a three-layer composite construction: a high-strength glass fiber tensile cord, a chloroprene rubber (CR) body, and a specially treated nylon 66 tooth facing for wear protection and low friction.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?

The minimum order quantity is 100 pieces for stock sizes. OEM and private label orders are available, and production lead times are confirmed when you place your order.

What applications are H timing belts used for?

H timing belts are used for heavy-duty industrial drives such as machine tools, pumps, compressors, fans and blowers, conveyors, printing and packaging machinery, textile machinery, mining and quarrying equipment, agricultural machinery and food processing lines, as well as drop-in replacement on existing H pulley installations.

Are H timing belts interchangeable with belts from other manufacturers?

Yes. Our H timing belts are manufactured to the ISO 5296 standard for inch-pitch trapezoidal tooth profiles and are fully dimensionally interchangeable with equivalent-profile H timing belts from other mainstream international manufacturers.
