What Is a 14M Timing Belt

The 14M Timing Belt is one of the largest standard pitch in the HTD (High Torque Drive) curvilinear family, with a 14.00 mm tooth pitch. It transmits power by positive tooth engagement with the pulley, so there is no slip, no speed drift and no need for lubrication.

With a deep 6.02 mm tooth and a 10.00 mm belt body, 14M is built for heavy industrial synchronous drives where 8M belts reach their load limit. Transmission efficiency reaches 98% or more, the speed ratio extends to 1:10, and the allowed line speed reaches 25 m/s.

Materials & Construction

LAYER 01 Tensile MemberImported high-strength glass fiber cord. Very low elongation, stable pitch length under heavy load.
LAYER 02 Body CompoundStandard belt body made of imported synthetic chloroprene rubber (CR); specialty compounds including hydrogenated nitrile (HNBR) available upon request.
LAYER 03 Tooth FacingSpecially treated Nylon 66 elastic fabric. Low friction, high wear resistance, protects the deep HTD tooth form.

Why Choose 14M HTD

Heavy Torque, No Slip

Curvilinear 14 mm teeth carry crusher-class loads while keeping exact synchronization.

Chain-Drive Replacement

Quieter, cleaner and maintenance-free compared with roller chain in many drives.

98%+ Efficiency

Almost no power lost to slip or creep.

Stable Dimensions

Glass fiber cord keeps pitch length stable under shock and continuous load.

Wide Width Capability

From 40 mm up to ~430 mm custom for large conveyor and processing equipment.

Long Service Life

Good dynamic flex, crack resistance, ozone resistance, heat and wear resistance.

Chemical Resistance

CR body resists oil, water, acids and alkalis in standard construction.

Multi-Shaft Drives

Suitable for complex industrial layouts with several pulleys.

Applications

Heavy machinery: machine tools, CNC centers, injection molding machines, presses.
Material handling: large conveyors, crushers, mining and aggregate equipment.
Process equipment: compressors, blowers, mixers, pumps, paper and textile machinery.
Steel & processing lines: rolling lines, processing conveyors, industrial fans.
Replacement drives: direct swap on existing HTD 14M pulley systems, ISO 13050 compliant for universal interchangeability.

How to Select Width & Length

On a 14M drive, width is the capacity lever. A wider belt carries more torque on the same pulleys. Match belt width to the pulley face width, then pick the pitch length from your center distance.

Width	Typical Use
40 mm	Medium-heavy drives where 8M is not enough
55 mm	General heavy-duty industrial drives, pumps, compressors
85 mm	Heavy conveyors, machine tools, processing equipment
115 mm	Very heavy material handling, large industrial drives
Custom up to ~430 mm	Mining, steel, large conveyor and special machinery

Teeth count = pitch length ÷ 14. All lengths and widths are handled through the product options.

All 14M timing belts are manufactured to the ISO 13050 standard for synchronous belt drives (14M profile), ensuring full dimensional interchangeability with equivalent-profile 14M belts from other mainstream international manufacturers.

Installation & Care

Inspect on receipt: surface clean, belt not twisted, teeth full and well formed.
Never bend or crimp — this damages the glass fiber tensile member.
Avoid scratches and chemicals; keep away from strong oxidising acids; limit long oil/water contact.
Release tension before removal. Never pry the belt off under high tension with improvised tools.
Check pulley alignment: pulleys must be parallel and coplanar.
Tension just enough to prevent tooth jump at maximum load — over-tension shortens bearing life.
Keep the drive clean; replace at first sign of tooth wear, cracking or cord exposure.

FAQ

What does 14M mean in a timing belt?

14M is the HTD profile with a 14.00 mm tooth pitch. In a part number such as 1400-14M-55, 1400 is the pitch length in mm and 55 is the width in mm.

What is the difference between 14M and S14M / RPP14?

All three use a 14 mm pitch. 14M is the HTD curvilinear profile. S14M is the STS/Super Torque Drive profile. RPP14 is a parabolic-profile belt. Pulley tooth geometry differs, so belts are not universally interchangeable.

What line speed can a 14M belt handle?

According to the supplied material data, 14M belts allow a line speed up to 25 m/s, with transmission efficiency of 98% or more.

What temperature range can 14M belts work in?

Standard CR construction works from -30 °C to +90 °C.

Which widths are available for 14M belts?

Standard widths are 40, 55, 85, 115 and 170 mm. Custom widths can be supplied up to approximately 430 mm depending on construction.

Can I use a 14M belt to replace a chain drive?

In many heavy drives, yes. 14M gives synchronous motion without lubrication, with less noise and simpler maintenance – but pulley sizes, width and load must be verified first.

Do you list individual 14M model numbers on the page?

No. All pitch lengths and widths are offered through the product options / trading variations. The page describes the 14M belt type, not a model list.

Are 14M timing belts interchangeable with belts from other manufacturers?

Yes. Our 14M timing belts are manufactured to the ISO 13050 standard for metric-pitch curvilinear (HTD) profile systems and are fully dimensionally interchangeable with equivalent-profile 14M timing belts from other mainstream international manufacturers.
