2M Timing Belt 52-3000mm, 2mm 4/6/9/12mm CR, Printer & Vacuum Supplier

Product Overview

The HTD 2M synchronous belt (also called the HTD 2M timing belt) is the smallest-pitch member of the HTD (High Torque Drive) curvilinear tooth belt family. With a 2 mm tooth pitch it is engineered specifically for micro-sized, high-speed precision power transmission, where compact dimensions, accurate positioning and quiet running are essential.

Unlike traditional trapezoidal-tooth micro belts such as MXL, the rounded HTD tooth profile greatly reduces stress concentration at the tooth root. This allows HTD 2M belts to transmit 30% to 40% more torque than MXL belts of the same size, while running at higher speeds with lower noise.

HTD 2M belts require no lubrication, deliver near-zero backlash for precise positioning, and maintain constant speed synchronization without slip. They have become the global standard for miniature drive systems in 3D printers, small robotics, medical devices, office equipment and consumer electronics.

All belts are manufactured to ISO 13050 and are dimensionally interchangeable with industry-standard HTD 2M synchronous belt specifications, ensuring drop-in replacement for existing equipment designs.

Materials & Construction

Every HTD 2M synchronous belt is built with a proven three-layer composite structure using premium, industry-grade materials for stable dimensions and long service life in micro precision drives.

Layer	Material	Function
Tensile Cords (Backbone)	High-strength glass fiber cord; aramid (Kevlar) cord optional	Exceptional tensile strength, minimal elongation and outstanding length stability over the whole service life.
Belt Body	Premium chloroprene rubber (CR), synthetic compound with hydrogenated nitrile and multiple rubber additives	Excellent resistance to high and low temperature, oil, water, acid, alkali, ozone and flex fatigue.
Tooth Surface (Facing Fabric)	Specially treated high-elasticity nylon 66 fabric	Protects the tooth surface, reduces friction and meshing noise, and prevents tooth wear even after millions of operating cycles.

Belt Designation

HTD 2M belts use the simple metric designation: [Pitch Length]-2M. For example, 200-2M designates an HTD 2M belt with a 200 mm pitch line length. The number of teeth is obtained by dividing the pitch length by the pitch (200 ÷ 2 = 100 teeth).

Applications

Industrial: Desktop & industrial FDM 3D printers, small CNC routers, servo/stepper motor drives, micro robotics, medical diagnostic equipment, SMT pick-and-place machines, surveying instruments.
Commercial: High-speed office printers, document scanners, vending machines, POS terminals, commercial coffee machines, security camera pan/tilt drives.
Household: Consumer 3D printers, robot vacuums, smart appliances, electric toothbrushes, RC models, camera lens autofocus mechanisms.

Installation & Maintenance

Do not pry belts onto pulleys: Always adjust center distance instead.
Check pulley alignment: Shafts parallel within 0.5 degrees.
Calibrate proper tension: Avoid tooth skipping (too loose) or excess bearing load (too tight).
Keep belts clean: Remove oil/grease; do not use harsh chemical cleaners.
Inspect pulleys regularly: Replace if tooth wear is visible.
Open-end belt splicing: Use dedicated joining clips or vulcanized splicing.
Regular inspection: Every 6 months in high-cycle applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an HTD 2M timing belt?

The HTD 2M synchronous belt is the smallest-pitch member of the HTD (High Torque Drive) curvilinear-tooth family. It uses a 2 mm tooth pitch, a 0.75 mm tooth height and a 1.36 mm belt thickness, and is engineered for micro-sized, high-speed precision power transmission where compact size, accurate positioning and quiet running are essential.

What is the difference between HTD 2M and MXL timing belts?

Both are micro belts, but they use different tooth profiles. MXL has a trapezoidal tooth with a 2.032 mm pitch, while HTD 2M has a rounded curvilinear tooth with a 2 mm pitch. The rounded profile reduces stress concentration at the tooth root, so an HTD 2M belt can transmit 30% to 40% more torque than an MXL belt of the same size, with quieter and faster running.

How do I read a 2M belt model number such as 200-2M?

The designation is simple: the number is the pitch line length in millimetres and 2M is the profile. So 200-2M means an HTD 2M belt with a 200 mm pitch line length. To find the number of teeth, divide the pitch length by the pitch: 200 / 2 = 100 teeth.

What widths and lengths are available?

We stock 255 standard models in widths of 4 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm and 12 mm, with pitch lengths from 52 mm to 3000 mm. Non-standard widths and custom lengths can be manufactured on request.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?

The minimum order quantity is 100 pieces for standard models and 200 pieces for custom sizes. Stock items ship quickly, and production lead times for custom or OEM orders are confirmed when you place your order.

What applications are HTD 2M timing belts used for?

HTD 2M belts are used for high-speed micro precision drives such as FDM 3D printers, small CNC routers, servo and stepper motor drives, micro robotics, medical diagnostic equipment, SMT pick-and-place machines, office printers and scanners, vending machines, POS terminals and consumer electronics.
